Cudos VMware!

What do you like best?

Personally, I like the concept of vCloud. In theory, its low-hanging fruit for existing customers wanting to build a hybrid cloud. Also vCloud offers simpler GUI layered on top for less expert users and the pricing is also surprisingly attractive. vCloud also offers the easiness to move an existing VMware setup into the vCloud. Tech Support was excellent when I needed it. They pretty helpful and fast response to help me

What do you dislike?

the limitation of vCloud is that I can't define anti-affinity rules. Beside that vCloud is amazing and the pricing is reasonable

Recommendations to others considering the product

using vCloud requires no changing your procedures, no converting your applications, no rewriting the entire thing from scratch.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

the disaster recovery and the data backup save me from the trouble. It also what originally promised to be: accessing to a seemingly unlimited pool of resources upon which you can run your own workloads

The best and only serious virtualization platform out there.

What do you like best?

vCloud is backed by VMWare, the company that brings the gold standard for virtualization that most all companies utilize in their data centers. vCloud takes the experience and knowledge of VMWare one step further and provides a platform familiar to companies in order to extend their infrastructure to the cloud with minimal configuration.

What do you dislike?

As with any hosting platform one pays a premium for the VMWare name, especially when it comes to scaling out virtual machines and resources in the cloud. Pay careful attention to pricing on network bandwidth and storage to ensure the cost of vCloud is in fact cheaper than hosting your own infrastructure.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

vCloud makes for a great platform for hosting active directory, email, and web services as well as federated active directory services in the cloud. Solutions have been realized as well hosting CentOS linux servers for short term, high availability projects.

What Server Virtualization solution do you use?

vcloud is great for a disaster recovery service

What do you like best?

We use the vcloud service for off site data storage in the event there is a catastrophic event at one of our facilities. Thankfully, we have never had to use it, but there is a piece of mind knowing our data is safe.

What do you dislike?

The only thing we dislike is paying for the service by the hour, but the peace of mind is well worth the price.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

data backup and disaster recovery

Functional!

What do you like best?

Awesome cloud based computing service. Very similar UI to VSphere which makes it easy to transition and learn from. It's navigation is easy to understand coming from the VMWare line of products. Also, I like the $300 credit for signing up is nice. Allowed me to run a small VM for 2 weeks. Perfect for the hybrid entry experience we were looking for.

What do you dislike?

There's a lot of display bugs that get in the way of initializing the product. Reloading or moving tabs sometimes eliminates the bugs. It's very quirky. I had difficulty uploading an iso and in addition to some browser quirks, it just feels really buggy. However, it's really tough to use this product because of glaring interface issues. Even when you do get past the UI, sometimes the functionality doesn't work, which defeats the purpose of using ANY product.

VCloud Service Works Pefectly.

What do you like best?

I like the Real-time 99% Accurate Human-Assisted or Software Voicemail to Text Transcription.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that the website seems a little slow. If it was faster, it would be much better.

Recommendations to others considering the product

I need to use it a bit more but I like the idea of Real-time 99% Accurate Human-Assisted or Software Voicemail to Text Transcription.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Real-time 99% Accurate Human-Assisted or Software Voicemail to Text Transcription helps us cut down on employees and overhead.

Great for an all in experience, but Hybrid is difficult

What do you like best?

Integration with other VMWare components such as VCenter.

What do you dislike?

Connectivity to the data centers used was limited to VPN in our case because there wasn't a Direct Connect partner we could use. Backups were horrendous, and failed on very large jobs consistentlyi.

Recommendations to others considering the product

You really need to be all in or all out with this solution. A Hybrid setup is still too difficult for companies with a bulk of legacy applications. Backups, although you do have backups, aren't very feature rich.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

None at this point because we had to discontinue use of the product.
