"Great platform for mid-size company"

What do you like best?

I enjoy the experience for the end user, it can be extremely personalized and tailored to specific needs.

What do you dislike?

Dislike some of the correspondence features, PDF and other document uploads seem to be complicated for users. Reviewing submissions as an administrator can also be complicated, they often appear grouped together with no ability to sort through for type or time stamp.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Excellent team to work with, great product for midsize organization with thousands of interactions per day.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are loosing a lot of our dependence on paper forms and writing checks or paying over the phone for our customers. It is very helpful to have the required red asterisks on forms for those filling them out, as well as the seamless ability to pay online! Removes human error from the process.

"The most powerful way to publish FrameMaker content"

What do you like best?

* Wide variety of customizable output formats including CHM, JavaHelp, old-school framed HTML help, modern responsive web help, Oracle help, pure XML, etc.

* Enables tech writing teams to take (often quite old) FrameMaker content and generate modern-looking online documentation without having to learn DITA.

* Scriptable, integrates easily into automated build environments.

What do you dislike?

ePublisher's strength is also its weakness. Its extensive output formats can be tricky to customize beyond the basic look and feel provided out of the box. Any customization you need that is not built in can be done, but you need to edit XSLT code to do it, which is beyond most users.

Recommendations to others considering the product

WebWorks ePublisher is (in my opinion) the gold standard for converting legacy FrameMaker content to modern online formats. If you have significant legacy content and want or need to stick with FrameMaker, it's the best tool for the job. Other tools, like Madcap Flare, may be better if your desire is to *migrate* from Frame to an online-native technical publishing platform. It all depends on what your requirements are.

This review is based on the FrameMaker online publishing functionality. The product also supports Microsoft Word but I have never used that.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We had a lot of technical documentation content built and refined in FrameMaker over many years. And while FrameMaker is great at producing printed and PDF documentation, it was never designed for the web-based documentation expected today.

WebWorks ePublisher enabled us to continue to use our valuable content and publish it in modern formats in sophisticated ways. It reduced costs because writing teams could continue to use the tool they know, and provided business benefits by providing technical documentation in modern web formats in a cost effective way.
