What do you like best?
Windows live writer is a program that serves to write your blog entries in a totally visual way and without having to enter the administration panel of your blog. Allows the editing of entries using the blog's own template (includes fonts, color, spacing, etc.), as well as the editing of the source code (HTML) directly, allows inserting content such as images and maps, allows the composition and editing of drafts without need to connect to the network, allows an accurate view of the updated blog before uploading the entry, allows to add images to the entry with automatic previews that redirect to the original image, allows to add labels to the entries with compatibility for other sites, allows install new features through plug-ins.
What I like most is the management of the images: once you insert the parameters of your FTP (the first time you use it) the process is fully automatic, you can even drag and drop. When you publish the entry the same program saves you the image in the directory that we have destined for that purpose in our hosting. An authentic wonder. It also has multiblog function: we can manage all our logs from the same application.
Every few minutes you keep a draft on your computer, and of course all the entries you publish also record them. So, if you later want to edit some, you just have to open it in local and re-publish it. From the menu you also have the option to save the draft directly on the blog.
It incorporates a spell checker, giving you the option of making your own dictionary: when a word considers it as badly written because it is not in your internal vocabulary you can incorporate it to recognize it in the future.
What do you dislike?
To be honest, something I did not like is the direct access CTRL + B (which makes the bold). I am very used to using CTRL + N, but it is something that can be ignored taking into account all the time that this utility saves us.
Although I do not do the homework, it helps me a lot when posting a blog in my favorite space. It is a tool that I use a lot and with its features, posting a blog is very simple.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
If you have more than one blog, you can change from the same Live Writer interface between both to post and edit entries. It is really useful for Live Writer to additionally import your labels and categories, so that you can assign them to the post before publishing them to your blog.
Windows Live not only allows you to add the images you want to include in your post, but also allows you to insert video files that are on your computer, on the web or on a service such as YouTube. You do not even need to open the browser or exit Writer, to visit the page hosting the video. In Writer you can connect the application with your YouTube channel and insert a video in an entry with a single click, avoiding generating the insertion code and pasting it in the HTML tab of your entry.
Windows Live Writer allows you to insert the images of your entry in the editor without having to upload them later to the WordPress platform. Additionally, it is very practical to change the size and add special effects such as shadows, borders, a watermark with your name, the title and alternative text and other useful functions that save you time and improve SEO.
