What do you like best?

Their prices are significantly below many alternatives that we considered.

What do you dislike?

We utilize Windstream for managed MPLS and managed firewall at our remote site (4 locations). Their firewall team never communicates with their network team to the point where they often 'forget' that they own the firewall at each site. I often have to convince/remind them to talk to the other group when troubleshooting issues.

Implementation was awful. They regularly would be missing core people for implementation calls, forgetting either a voice engineer, network engineer, or firewall engineer, who were all required for a successful turn-up. In several cases, the implementation timelines were delayed by weeks or even months because they had not properly pre-qualified sites with the local loop carrier and needed to solve issues that they only discovered days prior to our scheduled turn up.

They have promised increased support, but upon adding our most recent site, the turn up was still poor, and we needed to troubleshoot issues ourselves due to a lack of support from the Windstream team.

Finally, reliability is average. We have seen an average number of small (1-2 hour) outages and a couple of high profile longer outages. I would say these average a small outage every other month and a large outage once or twice a year.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Do not use their product.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We utilize them for our remote sites to enable Voice, MPLS network connectivity and managed firewall. They accomplish this task, but only with a large amount of difficulty.

What do you like best?

We have been with Windstream since way back when they were McLeod. As the company has been purchased and we have had to migrate to new service reps and new billing platforms the service and the general care that we are even a customer has dropped significantly. we are happy now that we have been assigned to a new (but long time Telco and longtime Windstream rep) she is great! discounts are keeping us with the company and the MPLS is good. Support and the NOC are so-so and if you have to escalate anything pray it isn't on a weekend as they say its 24/7 but really that's just the lev 1 ticket taker. the engineers are few and far between on weekends and NO support for Firewall or VPN has been available on the weekends.

What do you dislike?

after hours support is weak. about 2 in 5 reps that we have had have been good, the other three...Circuit turn up has also been slow in the past. we just did one to move from 3Mbps to 6Mbps and the two additional t-1's were turned up in less than 30 days. MUCH better then the 90 days that has been more the norm. we are 16 locations in 5 states and the footprint is so-so.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Be sure you get a good rep, I know that's tough as they are assigned but try and get to a supervisor and check that the rep has been with the company for some time or give you a good feeling at least!

MPLS, hosted Firewall, T-1, voice , Long Distance.

What do you like best?

I like that I am connected across multiple buildings. Their MPLS network has proven to be invaluable for our company. We connect 4 different servers in four different buildings.

What do you dislike?

I hate their customer service. Their network goes down without explanation or compensation. Voice traffic is patchy at best. For phone they need a lot of work.

Recommendations to others considering the product

A large company that cannot support its expansion. I would not use them again if I had the choice. They are extremely overpriced and their customer service is lacking. The phones are ok, but definitely not worth the price compared to other systems. The only benefit has been being able to roll in equipment into financing.

We are using them for our phone systems to host of office phones across multiple buildings. We are also using them for an MPLS network for our servers

What do you like best?

Nothing. It's only my product because no other carriers are in the area as of yet. The customer service is abysmal and the internet only works a quarter of the time

What do you dislike?

The customer service is abysmal and the internet connection and speed is far under the advertised level. My colleagues and I are utterly disappointed

Don't use it. Find another provider

What do you like best?

I like that these phones have many features. We can have calls transferred to our cell phones without our customers know we aren't even in the office.

What do you dislike?

We have had outages that were very inconvenient. We also had a fax that took over a year for Windstream to get Verizon to release to them.

Recommendations to others considering the product

since I am just a user I would recommend that a new company verify the length of time it will take to have current phones and faxes transferred over. We were told it would happen within a week or two when it actually took over a year. We had some issues when we first started using the product but the technician they sent from the start was excellent. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He seemed to go above and beyond. We like that every time we need support he is the tech that is sent here.

Overall this system is by far much better than the old system we were using. Up to date. Features are current.

Their hardware installation techs arrived on time

What do you dislike?

Their installation PMs (the 4 I went through) really botched the whole process. Routes missing, wrong equipment, no available personnel, a travesty through and through. Outages constantly, dropped routes, high latency.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Run for the hills, their implementation team almost got me fired.

Our costs were supposed to decrease and our bandwidth increase, however costs stayed about the same and bandwidth is only useful when the lines are up and available.
