Good in US - bad in Europe but customer service is the best so far

What do you like best?

They have search, native and video ads in their portfolio.

Search has the same inventory as bing. So no need to do anything there.

What do you dislike?

Native is over complicated and you cant even exclude for example mobile traffic by default but just reduce the bid ( e . g. as low as - 800 % from your standard bid ) . They even say that mobile traffic is really bad and that you should exclude it

Recommendations to others considering the product

For search use google and bing . you really do not need yahoo for that. Rather concentrate on native ( which is quiet difficult to set up and let it function properly ) .

When starting a new native campaign there are different different ad space categories - 1 A & 1 B , 2 A and 2 B and 3 A and 3 B

1 is their direct and best inventory

2 is on direct partner websites - quality is no as good as 1

3 is inventory on 3 rd party websites - quality is not very good

Again you can prioritize by different bid adjustments. I would recommend to concentrate on 1 A and 1 B . The inventory is the best avaibale and further reduce mobile and tablet traffic.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Retargeting & native to re - / acquire customers on yahoo websites and sometimes with extra budgets you get really great video ads in the mix .

Best Performance Native Advertising Channel

What do you like best?

A lot of native platforms serve on really questionable content. Serving ads on the Yahoo properties doesn't diminish your brand. Also the granularity of targeting on Yahoo is better than most native advertising platforms and remarketing on Gemini has proven to be very effective. We've achieved amazing CPAs from Yahoo Gemini native campaigns. Search on Gemini has performed very well for us too in terms of CPA but the traffic volume is very light so it's hard to spend a lot of money on Gemini Search.

What do you dislike?

Would love to see even more options for refining demographic targeting for native campaigns and more traffic on search campaigns!

Recommendations to others considering the product

they've made it really easy to import your campaigns over from Google AdWords.

definitely recommend native remarketing on Gemini as a performance channel.

Lead generation - phone calls, web leads, online purchases, driving demand, driving brand awareness, driving video views.

Simply an additional Capture Feature

What do you like best?

I like that the platform isn't overly complicated and that it can be pulled into engine management systems.

What do you dislike?

The UI is incredibly glitchy. Try to do anything in bulk is near impossible. The compatibility with our engine management system often has issues. Also, their ads are different from the rest of the industry and it's a pain to update them through our system.

If you are strictly wanting to gain more market share yes, but don't expect amazing result and the ability to do crazy creative initiatives.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The main business problem that Yahoo Gemini is solving is that fact that were weren't reaching enough people. We realized there were relevant prospects using Yahoo for their research journey and this helped to capture additional market share.

Strong Performer With Limitations

What do you like best?

Like many Yahoo! products, the Gemini platform tends to be a top-performer for many clients and campaigns. There's a broad range of Yahoo data segments available, and the ability to overlay that targeting criteria across a broad range of Yahoo! O&O properties and inventory sources

What do you dislike?

Unfortunately, the standard self-serve tool does not allow you to access all of the data segments that Yahoo! has access to. Many of these segments are hidden to the average user, and the only way to access them is to work with a Yahoo team which limits the self serve capabilities

Recommendations to others considering the product

It's critical to have the right type of creative & landing page strategy to get the full benefit of the platform. The landing page approach for this traffic source will likely be different than your standard display landing page

It's been a great way to test & scale native ad tactics by incorporating rich data targeting that many other native platforms do not provide

out of native platforms best customer service - inventory is okay

What do you like best?

customer service is reallyawesome. They even manage the campaigns if you do not have enough time

What do you dislike?

the inventory and publisher are not the best. Also the adset level is not really needed.

Recommendations to others considering the product

get a managed account. they really can help you alot

otherwise, put bids low and work with bid adjustments.

if you dont want to have mobile included, bid yourself out of it

Getting better

What do you like best?

It is better than Yahoo once was. Good support from the reps which is better than what Yahoo once was. The new tool allows for more options. As time goes on and the further Yahoo/Bing separate, I am confident that there will be more improvements and changes as the two engines compete for budgets from each other.

What do you dislike?

You need to rely on reps to help you solve for some of the issues. The interface is not very intuitive.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Good engine, but you need to get a rep. The reps make changes much easier and prevent the need for hiring additional employees to maintain the clumsiness that there is in the engine.

Ad buying to gain more volume.
