Yelp is trying to compete with Open Table, but falls short for users.

What do you like best?

It's nice to be able to check reviews before making a reservation, and get insider tips-especially when you are entertaining clients or trying to source new restaurants for them.

What do you dislike?

The process just doesn't seem to be as easy as Open Table-much easier to make reservations there. It's hard for me to tell sometimes which restaurants do take Yelp reservations, and occasionally I've experienced times when I've made a reservation through Yelp the restaurant cannot seem to find it. I dislike the fact that I am forced to download the app to see full reviews on my phone.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Being prepared when going to a restaurant for the first time with clients-knowing the ins and outs and looking more like an insider is great. It's nice to talk knowledgeably about a place or seem in the know about local restaurants when traveling to different areas.

SeatMe is the hybrid

What do you like best?

The best thing of SeatMe is: this software is kind of a hybrid (comparing with open table and old school dry-erase) plus is part of yelp which it means you can generate more traffic on your websites or reviews through yelp and don't forget price it is cheaper than open table. And seatme has a fixed fee with no additional per cover charge and works on any computer that has web access, not just iPad. (nice) // Lo mejor de SeatMe es que es un HIBRIDO (comparado con open table y el viejo metodo de escribir y tachar en papel) ademas es parte de yelp lo que significa que puedes geenrar mas trafico en tu sitio web o a traves de yelp y sin olvidar que es mucho mas barato que open table. y seatme tiene un fee o arancel fijo sin cargo adicional que se uede usar en cualquier computadora, no solo ipad.

What do you dislike?

Money. why do you need to pay so much for a software like this? its still too much 99$ per month (for small business), the monthly subscription should be base on table quantity in the restaurant or company using the software. // El dinero, porque se debe pagar tanto por softwares como este? 99$ al mes es demasiado (para negocios pequeños) la suscripcion mensual deberia estar basada en la cantidad de mesas que hay en el restaurante que usa el software.

Give it a try, Seat me has no installation fees, no cover fees, no contracts. // Dale una oportunidad, Seatme no tiene costo de instalacion, de covers o de contrato.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In my case, my wife use the software in the restaurant she works as a manager, Me, working for the restaurant with all the digital stuff I could say the benefits of seatme are: it is virtually connected to yelp and you can do the reservation at the same time you read restaurant reviews and menu, is like you are in the restaurant without being in it. Save money and time for customers and people working at front door and time is money. // En mi caso, mi esposa usa el software en el restaurante donde trabaja como manager y yo trabajo para el restaurante con la parte digital en general, dicho esto puedo decir que los beneficios de seatme son: esta virtualmente conectado a yelp osea que puedes hacer la reservacion al mismo tiempo que lees el menú y los reviews del restaurante, es como estar en el restaurante sin estar físicamente. Ahorra mucho dinero y tiempo para los clientes y para la persona que trabaja en la puerta principal del restaurante (tiempo es dinero).

Convenient online reservation system embedded inside Yelp app

What do you like best?

It's easy to make a dining reservation on my phone through the Yelp app. The system reminds me of OpenTable which used to be integrated with Yelp. SeatMe is convenient because I use Yelp frequently to look up new restaurants to try and I am able to book the table (or make modifications) within the app. I can make reservations 24/7, which would not be possible if I had to call in to the restaurant to book seats. I also like receiving confirmations by email and getting notifications by text messages.

What do you dislike?

Not every restaurant participates in the SeatMe reservation system, and because of that, I've probably only used it a handful of times (and I dine out several times per week). For the cases when SeatMe is not available, I would have to call the restaurant to book a table (the old fashion way) or res. The Seat Me system also lacks an interface/concierge where people can make special requests (send flowers, birthday celebrations, dietary restrictions, preferences in seating location, etc.).

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you like Open Table, you'll also like Seat Me. It's possible to make a reservation within seconds. To the SeatMe developers, I would suggest make room for special requests.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I make online dining reservations through SeatMe and it's confirmed to me electronically through text messages. No more phone calls.

A basic yet essential part of my job

What do you like best?

The ability to click and drag without lag on our ipad

What do you dislike?

Doesn't make linking duplicate guest contacts a priority.

Only occasionally auto adds active table party to server when table is assigned after

Would be helpful if, like open table, the system was more accurate about availability

Recommendations to others considering the product

If you rely on Yelp this is a good program and can make things a lot easier for everyone. I don't have a lot of experience with other similar programs so take what i day with a grain of salt.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This software is great for seeing what tables are currently occupied and how long they've been seated. Its also very helpful to see how busy you each servers section is and how many covers they've had throughout the night so we can keep it balanced.

Use the trial version to see how you like it. Overall, it is an easy software to use with plenty of potential. Cost side of it is very helpful in making decisions of going live with it or not.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Reservations & House Management System. Helps us to make decisions on other aspects such as having enough labor to support all the reservations for the day. Easier to make schedules in advance as it gives an overall picture of how busy the restaurant may be.

Easy to use software

What do you like best?

Simple layout for users, easy to navigate.

What do you dislike?

Limited customization relative to some other software options out there, but it allows for easy user recognition of a popular product line (Yelp)

Good 1st step program for evaluating restaurants and other venues for events

Able toview other user experiences to make sure rates that sound too good to be true are not at bad hotels before sending clients and members to bad restaurants (primarily) and hotels
