I love being able to obtain signatures from clients that do not require them to print, sign, scan and email. DocuSign changes that four (4) step process for our clients, to just a few mouse clicks in most cases and eliminates the clients need for scanniing capabiities which many do not have. While our tax preparation software offers this function for a NOT so "small fee", DocuSign offers their services at a much lower cost and does not charge a price per signature fee.
DocuSign signatures are accepted by the IRS which is not a small thing with identity theft becoming so widespread. It truly has streamlined my tax e-filing process.
This may be a solvable problem, I just haven't had time to check into it. One of our clients messed up and used a pin number for his signature on a form and ever since then, everything I send him to DocuSign comes back with that pin number. He can't seem to fix it on his end but hopefully I can get some help from DocuSign on this after October 15th deadline when I will have time to troubleshoot problem.
The only other problem is when creating a new document, the dropdown menu for type of documents only shows one (1) of the document types of the ten (10) that I have created. I just use that one to send them all, and then change each one to the appropriate category once I get it back.
JUST DO IT - you won't be sorry.
This has eliminated the need to chase down or inconvenience our clients for signatures in order to meet tax filing deadlines.
Our workflow process has been streamlined on both the front and the back end of the e-filing process. This is the first year we have used digital signature software and it has cut the turnaround time by about 75%.
