I have recommended Edmodo to colleagues and have given 2 informal workshops on how to use Edmodo. I like the format and the ease of use the best, as students are familiar with how to post and find and submit assignments and tests. I also like the backpack feature, so that students can place important documents, notes, and videos for future reference.
I would like the mobile App to be more user-friendly. Most of my students have smartphones but have found it difficult to produce the same results with the mobile app as they have with the desktop version. They were not able to access certain documents or videos as well as not being able to complete assignments or tests and see their results.
I would recommend any elementary and middle school teacher to use Edmodo. Students can use the software easily and they are able to empower themselves with 21st century learning techniques. Teachers can easily and effectively maintain student growth objectives by viewing student profiles and viewing data of student performance. Students are able to keep important information such as notes and videos within their backpack, which they can use for later reference. Teachers also have a similar function where they are able to keep all of their assignments and videos in a central location, the library, for future use. Edmodo also makes it easy to change assignments, reassign work, and keep track of student performance. I would recommend this learning management service to any teacher who wishes to incorporate technology and participatory learning within his or her classroom.
I love that students are able to see the results of their assignments instantaneously. They can also communicate with each other and facilitate their own learning. Students and parents can watch videos I upload which go over class notes for extra practice at home. In this way they are very connected and their participation and understanding has increased immensly.
